We’re alerting you to a major security update that will be released today, April 12, 2016.

This will be a patch for a vulnerability called Badlock. It affects ALL Windows machines. You can learn more about it at badlock.org. Security engineers are starting to name these vulnerabilities so as to bring awareness to the issues and heighten the need for fixes.

This security patch will be automatically deployed through our patching software. It will likely cause your computer to restart. So, today, Tuesday, April 12, 2016, we recommend you do the following at the end of the workday:

  1. Save and close all your active files.
  2. Logout but keep your computer on and running.
  3. Restart again on Wednesday morning to make sure the patch installed correctly.
