Exchange IMF Event 7515

I've gotten a few questions or seen a few lately on the Event Viewer message and wanted to just make mention of it. If you now have Service Pack 2 of Exchange 2003 installed on your SBS machine then you might be seeing a few of the 7515 error events in your logs. Here's a Technet reference to it.

By default IMF doesn't scan anything larger than 3MB in size. A spammer wouldn't waste the bandwidth or time to send you a file that large so IMF doesn't even care about the msg. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense it that everytime this happens you get an error in the event log that is 7515 with the message included as above in the Technet reference. So each morning when you get a status report it'll have that on it. It's by design folks. Thus it shouldn't be an error but it is...go figure. It would have been much better in my opinion if the Exchange folks made this an informational warning rather than an error. At the current time there is no way to change this functionality.

Anyway just know that the message was over 3MB in size. I guess if you wanted to see who is getting all the good .mp3's files in the company this is probably a good way as well!
